Sure, email is a wrong used tool and especially the much increased spam is a reason why people struggle. As an alternative RSS Feeds offer great new possibilities when combined with tagging and filtering. But still it remains task of oneself to find and filter information out of a incedibly fast growing webspehre of blogs, wikis and other webportals and reduce it to a readable amount.
